4-18 Vent death update 4-18-08 Tim Bodony (KIYU)
The investigation into the April 7th death of David Vent in Huslia has concluded that the death was a homicide. Vent’s body was sent to the state medical examiner’s office for an autopsy. And State Trooper Spokesperson Megan Peters confirms that the autopsy gave troopers the evidence they needed to classify the death as a homicide. Peters says that the Trooper investigation has verified that Vent’s death came after an altercation between family members that turned physical. Vent died as a result of injuries from the fight. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident. Evidence is being processed and interviews are still underway. Officers from Alaska Bureau of Investigation are conducting the investigation. Troopers are not releasing any further information at this time. They ask anyone with information to share about the case to contact the trooper office in Fairbanks at 907-451-5100.
